From Harvard University Athletics
SYDNEY, Australia – Justin Callahan and Marbella Marlo of Harvard sailing are currently crewing for Jeffrey Peterson in the Youth Match Racing World Championship in Sydney, Australia.
The USA team, consisting of five sailors, have gone undefeated through the qualifying round robin races on the Sydney Harbour. With no losses at the end of the qualifying round the team continues to push closer to defending its World Championship by advancing directly to the quarterfinals stage.
By ending atop the podium in the round robin stage, team USA claimed the Gerard Bosse Memorial Trophy. The trophy is named after the French International Umpire, Gérard Bossé, who passed away prior to the event last year. Bossé had a strong passion for Match Racing and umpiring which landed him as an officiate at nearly all the largest international competitions.
Following winning the trophy Peterson commented, "We still know there is a long way to go, however, it was another solid day for us and tomorrow will be a nice break." The USA team, comprised of two Crimson sailors, will return to the water tomorrow for the quarterfinals stage to push one step closer to defending its title.
